The DKIIS project addresses the important challenge of digital transformation, exploring two key questions: Are Spanish companies adequately prepared for this change, and what significant changes do emerging technologies bring to firms already in the transformation process? We outline a broad research agenda in two core areas:
1. Identifying factors that facilitate or hinder digitalization and the integration of new technologies in companies. This includes studying leadership trends in new technologies, their reliance on prior innovations, and the economic and financial determinants of technology adoption. We place particular emphasis on the impact of financial constraints and address gender differences in technology adoption.
2. Analysing changes experienced by companies already engaged in this process. This involves assessing the influence of digitalisation on market competition and innovation strategies, evaluating its impact on productivity, profit margins, spillover effects and firm resilience, and examining shifts in firms' strategies for internationalisation and participation in global value chains.
